For years now the most popular and the most widely used lossy audio format, MP3 is a convenient and space-friendly way of storing and listening to your music. MP3 Converter is a batch audio converter and audio extractor that can transform your favorite audio and video tracks into standard MP3 files that you can then move to your favorite device or burn to disc.

The app is extremely easy to use, and it is capable of converting into MP3 any combination of audio and video files in any of the various formats supported, which include WAV, WMA, AVI, WMV, FLV, VOB, MPEG, 3GP, etc. In order to “normalize” the output files in terms of quality, you can define the bit and sample rates of the audio, as well as the number of channels (mono or stereo). These settings may vary according to the output format selected, which – apart from MP3 – includes an interesting choice of lossy and lossless audio formats, such as WAV, FLAC, Ogg, WMA, AC3, or AAC.

The program has been clearly designed to batch-convert audio files and to extract the audio of selected video files in the simplest and the most straightforward way possible. This is why you won’t find a wide range of editing tools, as it is the case with many other similar conversion tools. Thus, the Options tab will merely open a barebones audio cutter where you can define the start and end points of the desired output file in hours, minutes, and seconds. Not the most precise way of cutting your audio files, or the most intuitive – the lack of sliders and of a basic playback tool makes the cutting process a bit rough.

Though not extremely pricey at first glance, MP3 Converter is expensive enough for a tool with just the minimum features required to perform a standard MP3 audio conversion. This same task is available in a wide range of free media converters, and many of them even throw in a set of useful editing functions of which MP3 Converter lacks almost completely. Not a bad choice for converting audio to MP3, but not the best either.
